Low pairs

A low pair is one of the most misconceived starting hands played by lower-skilled Unibet sports betting players in poker because people often don’t look at the bigger picture in terms of your chances of winning the pot from this position.

The problem you have is your options of improving a pair are very limited. You would need to flop another card of the same value to develop a set, otherwise all you have is in a fact a low pair which is unlikely to win many hands. A Unibet online casino game opponent with two higher starting cards only needs to hit one of those from the middle and they will have a stronger hand than you.

Higher pairs do hold much more value to you because even if your hand does not improve from the flop, you still have something fairly strong and which is likely to be competitive.

It does depend on the player’s own judgement when it comes down to determining what is a low pair actually is but most people consider anything below 6s to fall into this category.

The best advice for low pairs is to play them when you can see a cheap flop. If it does not cost you too much to stay in the hand then it is definitely worth waiting around to see if the extra three cards can benefit you.

The one situation where the lower pairs are more valuable is in a heads up situation. When there are only two players at the table, it doesn’t always require a hand near the top of the rankings to win the pot so a low pair could be good enough.
